Dear All Students,
As many of you may already know, Auckland has been experiencing severe flooding due to the recent heavy rains. In light of this, we would like to remind all students to take precautions and stay safe.
We strongly advise that students avoid going near flooded areas, as this can be extremely dangerous. If you live in a low-lying area that has been affected by the flood, please seek higher ground and evacuate if necessary.
In addition, we would like to remind students to stay informed about the latest weather and flood warnings by monitoring official news sources such as the New Zealand Civil Defense Emergency Management website, and local news outlets.
When returning home after the flood, please be cautious and avoid entering your home if it has been flooded, or if the structure has been damaged. It is important to wait for the all-clear from the authorities before re-entering your home, as floodwaters can contain dangerous debris and contaminants. You can find more information about returning to home after a flood on government websites such as Floods — Get Ready — Emergency preparedness in New Zealand, and Emergency-resource-Returning-home-after-a-flood_10.11.20_1.2.pdf (hauoratairawhiti.org.nz).
We understand that this may be a stressful time for many students, and we encourage everyone to reach out to their friends and family for support. If you need assistance or have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our Student Services team.
Please stay safe and take care of yourselves. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
